The President of the Manitoba Metis Federation and National Spokesperson of the Métis National Council, David Chartrand, will provide remarks at the launch of the Winterlude 2020 programming today announcing Métis Nation events throughout the Winterlude festival. In 2020, Canada and the Métis Nation will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Métis Provisional Government of President Louis Riel bringing the Métis Nation into Confederation as the Province of Manitoba in 1870.
The press conference will highlight Winterlude’s official destinations and themes—including some Winterlude favourites—as well as an urban, cultural and culinary focus.
The 42nd edition of Winterlude will take place on the weekends from January 31 to February 17, 2020 in Ottawa–Gatineau.
