The Métis Nation Minister of Veterans Affairs David Chartrand will be honouring two Métis veterans of the Second World War this weekend at ceremonies in Ontario. The ceremonies will include the presentation of a $20,000 cheque to each of the veterans under the terms of the $30 million Canada-Métis Nation Métis Veterans Recognition Payment Agreement.
On August 17, 2019, Minister Chartrand will be honouring 106 year old Alex Boucher at the Boucher family compound in Britt, Ontario. On August 18, 2019, Minister Chartrand will honour 93 year old Wilfred Rochon at the Windsor Métis Council office in Windsor.
